Anton von der Heyden earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Wuppertal and has been working as a research assistant at the Chair of Theory and Discourse of Design (tde) since 2025. Among other places, he has worked at Olaf Gipser Architects in Amsterdam and at a local architecture firm.
In his bachelor’s thesis, he developed a script to automate modular timber structures for the Haspel Campus, which serve as temporary interim buildings. The system responds to spatial programs and site parameters and offers a reversible, circular alternative to container buildings.
This focus continues in his work in experimental design. His core interests lie in linking digital automation, machine vision, and AI-supported workflows with architectural design. In this context, he develops plugins for direct CAD control via AI models and works with time-of-flight technologies, 3D scanning, and Gaussian splatting. In his design work, he strives for futuristic reinterpretations of structuralism based on modular systems.
In addition to his academic and professional activities, he has been actively involved in academic self-governance for over five years. He has served on various faculty committees and has held the position of student council president for the past two years.
